Holden is a small, New England town in Central Maine sitting amid rolling hills and overlooking the Penobscot River Valley. Today, economic activity centers on Route 1A, which bisects Holden and is the main thoroughfare between Bangor and those traveling to Acadia National Park. A variety of businesses provide services to both residents and visitors. Holden is part of Maine School Administrative District 63, which also includes Clifton and Eddington. Holden Elementary School and Holbrook Middle School are the two schools that students attend in the area. After graduation from middle school, students can choose which of the local high schools they will attend.
